Heidi, A Heartfelt Commission

Thanks for joining me! I did this little piece of Heidi as a commission for a friend. A 6×6 Acrylic on board. A week after I delivered it to him, he went into the hospital with stomach issues. He has had a treacherous ride for the past 3 1/2 months. I wont go into everything here, but they  put a tube in to bypass his stomach. He was on a ventilator for a period of time. He’s gone through several surgeries to remove infection and build up in his intestines. He developed two staph infections while in the hospital, and the list goes on. He was finally able to go back home last week thankfully. I prayed hard that he would be able to make it through this horrid ordeal. He was scared as I am sure others were that he would lose his life. He has always been a strong individual however which I am sure helped to see him through these past months. His wife was fantastic through it all being at the hospital as much as possible and holding down her job and the home front. He missed his dogs including Heidi while away from home and is so blessed to be back with them laying at his side. He has lost a lot of weight and hasn’t been able to eat any solid food…nothing but ice for these past months. I can’t imagine. That would be the worst part and makes me think how fortunate we are for something as simple as sitting to eat a meal. This alone is enough to take a toll on the psyche, but he has withstood every obstacle in his way. Keep hanging in there and getting stronger every single day Willis. I’m so happy you have Heidi back at your side and this little painting of her always.

XO,

M. Marie~

UPDATE:  Willis passed after a long 5 year battle. He fought hard. He was as strong as he could be, but our Heavenly Father must have had greater plans for him. I am happy you are no longer suffering Willis, but you are missed very much here. Godspeed my sweet friend.
